Cali’s own Nipsey Hussle has recently signed a deal with big label BMI. The LA rapper signed to the label that is also the home to other big timers Mariah Carey and Christina Aguilera.
With his new deal, BMI will now be managing and licensing his music for play on TV, radio, movies and will collect all royalties due to Nipsey.
Nipsey’s been generating a buzz for a while now and is part of the New West movement out that’s blowing up in Cali right now.
He landed himself a spot on XXL’s 2010 Freshman list and also got himself a feature on Snoop’s latest, Malice In Wonderland.
So be on the lookout for Nipsey because he’s about to start making moves…
It was being reported that Young Jeezy had officially changed his name and dropped the Young to just be known as Jeezy.
Now the rapper is denying these claims in a recent interview he did with MTV. Jeezy was on the set of Fat Joe’s newest video and spoke with an MTV reporter, Shaheem Reid. He claims that Jeezy told him he’s still Young Jeezy and posted via twitter:
At the Joey Crack/Jeezy video shoot. All black everything! Don’t get it confused. Jeezy just told me he’s still “Young Jeezy.” @LamonteBall looking real “nice” up in there.
No need for the name change, Jeezy is Jeezy, young or old.
Shyne’s been on the grind ever since his release and deportation. He obtained a contract with Def Jam, (personal LA Reid signing included) and has been dropping a couple freestyles as of late, including his version of Rihanna’s “Rude Boy”.
His latest goes over Alicia Keys’ “Un-thinkable” and the MC takes a shot at former rival 50 Cent, spitting:
“I need a couple million/ fu*k a 50 cents.”
Shyne and 50’s beef goes back a few years and Shyne even spoke on their beef during his incarceration, explaining his “For The Record” track where he goes at 50. Shyne explained:
“I was just falling back, then I got word he said something he wasn’t supposed to say. It’s one thing if he would have said it and stood by it; ‘That’s what I said, you have a problem, whatever!’ But he said it and at the same time he was trying to sign me to G-Unit Records. There’s an interlude where Sha Money is calling me, ‘Yo, 50 wants you to sign to G-unit.‘ He’s reaching out to all my sets [in the street] trying to sign me to G-Unit. [50] used to rap about me before he got big. He tried to do a song with me, so he knows who I be.”
It seems sometimes the past sometimes can make it’s way to the future, but let’s wait on it and see if 50 has any response…Which he always does.
