Even though Andre 3000’s much-hyped Cartoon Network series Class of 3000 doesn’t launch until November 3, the prequel to the series, Sunny Bridges: From Bankhead to Bankhead airs tonight on Cartoon Network. The story follows Sunny Bridges, a music superstar, who leaves his career at the height of his fame to teach a class at his old school,
"My Sunny character, he’s a little bit Andre 3000," Andre told TV.com "Not that I would stop doing music to teach kids music, but I always thought that, you know, especially rap that was a young man’s game, and the older I get I’m like, ‘okay I don’t want to be 45 years old rapping.’ So I said, ‘maybe it will be cool if I go back to school and actually be an art teacher,’ because that was like my love before I started doing music, you know, drawing and painting. So what you see in the cartoon is I guess an exaggerated example of what everybody thinks of the music industry, you know, so you’ll get used–so you’ll be familiar with it.”
For Class of 3000, Andre will voice the lead character Sunny plus write and perform a new original song for every episode of the 13-episode series. To get the lowdown on all the characters, a sample of the music and a sneak peek behind the making of the show, check it out here.
