The exhaustive case has come to a close.
The long-winded Tekashi 6ix9ine saga has come to a close. His anticipated sentencing date has arrived, and with it has come a decision: the rainbow-haired rapper will serve a 24-month sentence.
Despite being applauded for his cooperation in helping take down the Nine Trey Bloods, Judge Engelmeyer went on record saying, “Mr. Hernandez, I’ve given it a lot of close thought, including your cooperation. The following are my thoughts, & this is going to take a little while. You are in custody for 13 months. I agree you deserve a great deal of credit for cooperation. However, I cannot agree with your counsel that time served it appropriate. In my judgment, your conduct is too violent and selfish to make 13 months reasonable. You will not be going free today.”
While he and his team were hoping for no jail time, Tekashi was originally looking at 47-years-to-life, so all things considered, two-years seems relatively manageable.
His sentence includes five-years of supervision after his November 2020 release.
