Off of Moneybagg Yo’s recently-released album, Say Na.
When J. Cole told Moneybagg Yo that he was a fan of his work, it was inspiring for the Memphis rapper who’s looked up to Cole for the better part of his decade-long career. When Jermaine told Moneybagg Yo that he wanted to collaborate on the latter’s upcoming project, Reset, it was like a dream come true.
While Moneybagg Yo is better known for enlisting a hard-hitting trap vibe surrounding his harrowing adolescence, Cole is hip-hop conscious, lyrical superhero intent on restoring a sense of substance to his beloved genre. So when the two met, Moneybagg Yo played some songs that he thought would cater to J. Cole’s intelligent side, in hopes of landing a Cole feature on Reset. And while the “GOMD” rapper liked and appreciated what he’d heard, he didn’t want Moneybagg Yo necessarily coming into “his world”–Cole wanted to step into Moneybagg’s.
And so, the two created “Say Na”, the simplistic yet catchy trap anthem that accomplishes exactly what the two set out to achieve: Moneybagg Yo got his J. Cole feature, and J. Cole took a ride in Moneybagg’s world.
After unveiling the final “Say Na” product through Reset’s November 2nd release, the two have linked-up once again to deliver the track’s music video.
