I was driving home the other day listening religiously to this new Rick Ross “Super High” and it dawned on me in the form of the image above – Diddy is re-inventing himself again. Alot of people scoffed at the fact that Ross could even be compared to B.I.G. (oh well) and Nicki Minaj, in reality, really did replace Lil’ Kim. Diddy, being the supreme entrepreneur, figured why re-invent the wheel when he can just inflate it again an put it back on the road. The fact that he will be managing them both will allow him to re-create some of that synergy from back in the Bad Boy glory days as well as attach himself to two of the most relevant hip-hop artists today. We all know that neither one of these figures are going anywhere anytime soon, especially with Diddy getting them sponsorships and added projects. He then gets 10-15% of what they make as well? Crazy.
It also hit me after the hundreds of testimonials of people that have worked with Diddy that he simply outworks and stays on top of the competition. From the people who worked with him only once like Pharoahe Monch to Jadakiss to Jay-Z – they all have to admit that they learned how to win and get money being around him. Even that guy who sent him that toilet full of Ciroc to his office gotta give it up to him after seeing that video stunting on him in the bathtub after his vodka won Gold Medals in taste – not sales (take that, take that!) We must also remember that this dude is still making records, selling millions of dollars in clothing and cologne and making movies. His formula for success is certified; it will be interesting to see if it will rub off on Ricky and Nicki.
