ready-cover-art-copy-1Besides being the fantasy of females ages 15 and up, Tremaine “Trey Songz” Neverson also doubles as a singer-songwriter; a very good one at that.

Showing a significant amount of growth with each project, (Gotta Make It– over 300,000 copies sold, Trey Day– over 450,000 copies sold), the young tenor-voiced crooner from Virginia throws his hat back into the ring with his third album in four years, Ready.

Building up steam with his a free downloadable mixtapes Anticipation [Click to download Anticipation] and Genesis, the man who can boast about being featured over 50 times on other artists’ records, saves the best for his own.

Guest spots are kept down to a minimum with Drake making two appearances, Fabolous [Click for album review] coming through, along with Gucci Mane and Soulja Boy.

From there, the baby-making commences with songs like Neighbors Know My Name,’ ‘Ready To Make Luv,‘Jupiter Love, and ‘One Love.’

But Trey Songz doesn’t fill up the whole CD with the positive aspects of relationship life, as he also describes the flipside of things with contributions like ‘Black Roses,’ Love Lost, and ‘Yo Side Of The Bed.

Fabolous makes his way onto the upbeat oral-fixation ofSay Aah where they discuss club life, and how far a woman’s jaw muscles can stretch open. Other pieces of music that help complete the project are songs like ‘Be Where You Are,the leadoff single of ‘I Need A Girl, and massive hit of ‘Successful’ featuring Drake (and new lyrics by Trey Songz).

With Ready, Trey Songz continues to establish himself on the R&B food chain, with him clearly being towards the top of it.

Starting with a free album that most artists would die to have as a retail album in his Anticipation Mixtape, he follows it up with an even more impressive showing by way of a project all of his fans (especially the female ones) will be sure to support.
