As we’ve arrived at April’s halfway point, the taste of summer is in the air: The trees are blooming, the weather is warming, the light at the end of this suffocating pandemic tunnel is within sight. There’s a collective energy of excitement and relief permeating society.

With the work week almost in the rearview, this upcoming weekend will serve as a microcosm of what’s to come this summer season. And what better way to soundtrack this minivacation than with a phenomenal playlist. Luckily, DJ Forever Cold is back once again, applying his expert filter to this week’s abundance of releases with the 4/16 Forever Cold❄️ playlist.

Headlining today’s list are: YSL, Big Scarr, Toosii, and Conway the Machine.

Starting things off with an absolute bang, the Young Thug-helmed Young Stoner Life (YSL) label has come through with their highly-anticipated posse album, Slime Language 2. The sequel to the 2019 project, Slime Language 2 accelerates the original’s footprint by enlisting an All Star cast. From Drake to Big Sean, and all of the YSL titans, like Gunna and Yak Gotti, this ensemble album is a compilation of pure hits. The Drake-assisted “Solid” and Travis Scott-assisted “Diamonds Dancing” have been added to today’s playlist.

Sticking down south, Big Scarr, one of Gucci Mane’s most promising protege and 1017 member, has come through with his new album, Big Grim Reaper. The debut album from the rising MC, Big Scarr’s rookie effort scores big. Joining him on the project are Foogiano, Pooh Shiesty, Gucci Mane himself, among others. The track “Ballin In LA” has been added to today’s playlist.

Heading up to New York, the newly-minted fan-favorite, Toosii, has come through with his latest single, “what it cost.” The new Toosii track is the Syracuse native’s latest preview of his upcoming Thank You For Believing album, following “back together.” Get ready for the new Toosii LP, coming soon.

Staying in the Empire State, Griselda MC Conway the Machine has come through with his second project of the year, La Maquina. Following the February-released collaborative If It Bleeds It Can Be Killed tape with Big Ghost, Conway’s latest album effort continues his superior storytelling and lyrical penchant, comforted by the familiarity of nostalgic instrumentals. The track “Clarity” has made today’s list.

Other artists to be included in today’s Forever Cold❄️ playlist are: Sleepy Hallow, Liam Tracy, IDK, EST Gee, Nebu Kiniza, Saweetie, ALLBLACK, iann diorr, and Lucki.
